ある一点だけが例外で、たった今述べたことを外すと示す三つの接続詞です。only that は打ち解けた調子、save that と except that は中立、but that は古めかしく改まった調子です。どれも完全な節を導きます。 よくある誤り: save that のあとは完全な節で、名詞句ではありません: save that the cost ✗、save that it costs too much ✓。
