S + am / is / are + V-ing用于说话时正在发生的事，或这一段时间里的事。总是由两部分组成：随主语变化的 to be，加上动词的 -ing 形式。以 e 结尾的动词去掉 e（write → writing）；两个辅音之间只有一个元音时，要双写最后的辅音（sit → sitting）。 常见错误：不能漏掉 to be：I reading ✗，I am reading ✓。中文只需一个“在”字，英语却需要 to be 和 -ing 两个部分。
