whether 和 if 都引导“是否”从句，但有四个位置只能用 whether：介词之后、to V0 之前、主语位置、以及 or not 之前。除这四处之外，两者可以互换，if 更口语化。 常见错误：介词之后和 to 之前必须用 whether：depends on if the funds arrive ✗, on whether ✓.
例句
It depends on whether the funds arrive.
这取决于资金是否到账。
She could not decide whether to stay.

Whether he agrees is not the point.
