Nhóm động từ thông dụng nhất lại không theo -ed, phải học thuộc từng từ: go–went, have–had, do–did, see–saw, take–took, get–got, come–came, make–made, say–said, eat–ate. Bẫy thường gặp: goed ✗, went ✓ — không có đường tắt, phải thuộc bảng.
