Verb tense practice — CEFR 2
Tense is where Vietnamese learners lose the most marks in written English, because Vietnamese does not mark tense on the verb. This exercise states the required tense up front — present simple, past simple, past participle or -ing — then offers four forms of that same verb, so there is exactly one right answer and a mistake is a conjugation mistake, not a guessing mistake. Sentences come straight from the hand-checked CEFR 2 example bank.

FAQ
Why does the prompt say the tense in advance?
Because the example sentences are short and mostly carry no time marker: in "She ___ at university" both studies and studied are grammatical. Naming the tense is what gives the question a single correct answer instead of penalising a defensible one.
Where do the four options come from?
All four are forms of the SAME verb (study / studies / studied / studying), taken from the irregular forms stored in the dictionary or derived by rule — so an error is an error of conjugation, not of picking the wrong word.
