Cụm mở đầu bằng only cũng kéo theo đảo ngữ ở mệnh đề chính. Only if, only after, only when, only then, only by đều dùng được. Nếu only chỉ đứng trước danh ngữ chủ ngữ thì KHÔNG đảo. Bẫy thường gặp: Only trước chủ ngữ thì không đảo: Only Mai did know ✗, Only Mai knew ✓.
