Trạng từ chỉ tần suất và mức độ chắc chắn đứng SAU trợ động từ đầu tiên, TRƯỚC động từ chính, nhưng SAU động từ be. Có nhiều trợ động từ thì trạng từ len vào sau cái đầu tiên. Đây là quy tắc ba nhánh và cả ba đều phải nhớ. Bẫy thường gặp: Sau be thì trạng từ đứng sau, không đứng trước: They never are late ✗, They are never late ✓.
