Hội thoại bỏ chủ ngữ, trợ động từ và cả cụm động từ khi người nghe suy ra được. Bỏ ở ĐẦU câu là chuẩn khẩu ngữ; bỏ ở giữa câu thì không được. Đây là lý do câu nói thật nghe ngắn hơn hẳn câu trong sách giáo khoa. Bẫy thường gặp: Chỉ bỏ ở đầu câu: Coming you tonight ✗, Are you coming tonight · Coming tonight ✓.
